CHOOSING A PROFESSIONAL BUILDER.
Check credentials. > Is the builder licensed and insured? > Has the builder been established for several years? > Does the builder provide a quality guarantee?
Do some research. > Does the builder have a good reputation for quality and customer service? > Does the company have a good reputation for building on time? > Ask the builder for previous project details and if possible, seek references from other clients who have experienced the company's services.
Narrow it down. > Select about three builders. > Visit display homes to get ideas for what you want in your new home. > Ask the builder whether they are interested in your project.
Make sure you are happy and know what is involved. > Does the builder provide a detailed written quotation clearly showing what is included and what items may be at an additional cost? > Ensure that you understand who pays for variations, allowances, engineering reports and council costs as well as problems with unstable soil or additional footing requirements. > Don't sign anything until you understand it fully.
